The smoke thats thunders

Victoria Falls. This amazing waterfall that a Scotsman disovered in 1855 and named after his Queen Victoria.

This Scotsman, David Livingstone, is now placed on a stone pillar with a small canoe at the foot of the pillar as a reminder of his expeditions in Africa. Livingstone, the first to cross the African continent from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean. Livingstone who loved Africa and the Africans and who spoke their language. He died in his beloved Africa in 1873, at the age of 70. Considering all he had been through in those years, 70 was a considerable age.

Our new friends from the river cruise from Scotland and North Ireland
Beautiful sunset on the Zambezi river after we have seen a flock elephants swim across

Some claim it was a mixture of quinine and sherry that saved him from the many illnesses he got in those years, so maybe Gin and tonic is a decent medicine for malaria?

We have  checked in at the Pioneers Lodge and got an iced tea as a welcome drink.

Maybe we’ll have a gin and tonic tonight! Not against malaria, we have pills for that, but to remember the man who is still loved by Africans.

The man who has named several places in this vast continent. We have got a nice room at the Pioneers Lodge outside Victoria Falls and tonight we will dress up in the finest we have, namely our dresses from Ioánna from Tjøme and with our nice red exclusive handbag from Serena. Before dinner we had a fantastic Sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River, where we came close to elephants and hippos and could admirer one of the most beautiful sunsets ever seen. The Zambezi River with its 2,544 km is the forth -longest river in Africa andforms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

    Takk for reisebrev!
Kona mi – Inger – har lest bok av Tom Kristiansen “Afrikanske fortellinger”. Han forteller at hjertet til Livingstone ble tatt ut og begravd i Afrika mens kroppen ble sendt til Skottland.
    Fortsatt god reise!
